Our visit to Isamitsu

During our recent trip to Japan, we had the great pleasure of spending a few days at the Isamitsu blacksmith shop. Finally, we were able to meet everyone in person, chat face-to-face, and share a few meals. It was a powerful, authentic experience.

At the heart of this project are passionate people. And despite the thousands of kilometers separating Quebec from Japan, it seemed essential to us to create a real, human connection.

So, a few hours by train north of Tokyo, we discovered a magnificent Japanese countryside town. Rice fields, nature, calm, and above all, the forge where our knives come to life.

Documenting their work, step by step, from forging to finishing the handles, was an unforgettable experience. Their talent is immense, but it was above all their humanity that deeply touched us.

We can't wait to share all of this with you, and to finally reveal this project that we've been working on with passion for a long time.

One thing is certain: we will return. And next time, we will take the time to stay longer in their small village.

In the meantime, here is our group photo at the end of the stay 🤍
